Created by Michael Kiesling, Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra challenges players to carefully select glass panes to complete their windows while being careful not to damage or waste supplies in the process. The window panels are double-sided, providing players with a dynamic player board that affords nearly infinite variability!
The way the glass pane selection forces you to balance your window patterns against the waste pile is tense in the best way. I've played it three times already and the two-sided boards keep it feeling fresh.
The two-sided window boards add so much replay value since you can flip to the harder side once the first layout feels easy. Picking panes without wasting the factory supply keeps every turn tense. My group's played it six times already and nobody's tired of it yet.
The factory tiles for the two-sided windows are clever — you flip to the B side once you've memorized the A openings, and it feels like a fresh puzzle all over again. Turns run quicker than the original too, though the decision about which column to place glass in still makes me second-guess myself.
