The “Interactive Adventure” series by Lookout Games is a story game in book format. Like a computer “point & click” adventure, this game tells a non-linear story full of quirky characters, useless items, and tough riddles. Explore different locations, collect and combine items, talk to different characters, and find out how the story unfolds.
The book-as-point-and-click idea works way better than I expected, flipping pages to hunt for the right object never got old. Figuring out how to actually break into that prison took me a whole evening and I didn't mind one bit.
I've been missing classic point-and-click adventures, and this book scratches that itch perfectly. The non-linear story makes me feel like I'm actually exploring, and the quirky characters add so much charm.
The inventory puzzles are genuinely clever, and I liked how the story branches depending on what you carry. My only gripe is that flipping back and forth to find the right page gets fiddly after a while.
